Student volunteering
St John Ambulance has a strong presence
at universities all across England, and this is no different for
Leicestershire and Rutland.
Known as 'LINKS units', St John Ambulance has a presence at the
University of Leicester, Loughborough University and De Montfort
University.
A new experience
Going to university is all about new experiences, life skills,
and having a good time. St John Ambulance LINKS units are the ideal
place to do just that!
These days, having a university education only goes so far to
securing that dream job, employers are looking for people who have
done more and are well-rounded individuals. St John Ambulance can
help to make your CV shine giving you new
skills, and providing you with different
experiences to help you stand out above
the rest.
Not just first aid
When you say 'St John Ambulance' to people, they often think of
first aid, and ambulances and being the
difference attending world class events
for free. But LINKS is about more than that.
LINKS units are run by elected committees and this gives
students the opportunity to help direct their unit and shape it in
a way that works for them. As well as giving the opportunity to
learn leadership skills and add something
different to their CV.
All work and no play?
Certainly not! LINKS units are just as much about learning how
to save a life as they are about having
fun. Be it a meal out, trip to the cinema, camping or a
drink in the local students union (fancy dress of course!).
If all this interests you then why not find us in the students
union, at freshers fayre, or contact us
