Community First Responder

St John Ambulance London provides Community First Responder Schemes in the capital in partnership with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Our CFR volunteers attend to emergency calls received by the ambulance service. The first responders are often first on the scene of emergencies within a matter of minutes in their own local area providing care until the ambulance arrives.

They are dispatched by the London Ambulance Service (LAS) emergency operations centre at the same time as an ambulance and respond from their homes in their own cars.

The Community First Responders scheme is open to adults with at least one years driving experience who own or have access to a car in which to respond. You don’t need any previous first aid experience as full supportive training is provided free of charge.

As a St John Ambulance Community First Reponder you will be provided with a CFR uniform and meet regularly with your local group to practice those essential skills. Current members of St John Ambulance are welcome to join.
