Keeping runners on track at
Bupa 10k
Around 100 Volunteers from St John
Ambulance London (Prince of Wales's) District were deployed with
five ambulances and eight Members of the London Cycle Response Unit
at the Bupa 10K Race.
Ensuring the safety of the competitors
The race saw runners follow a route
through the City of London, finishing on The Mall. A total of
46 people were treated by the Charity's first
aiders, and three were transported to
hospital.
Ann Cable, Commissioner of St John Ambulance London (Prince of
Wales's) District, said:
'We are pleased to have had the opportunity to help ensure the
safety of competitors at the Bupa 10K Race again this year.
'We believe that first aid should be available to anyone who
needs it, but research shows that's not happening and that is why
our trained first aiders, ambulance crews and medical staff play
such a vital role in making sure that we are the difference between
a life lost and a life saved.'
St John Ambulance London has 5,000 Members, with a strong youth
contingent meeting at Divisions around the capital. The
organisation also delivers first aid training courses for
businesses and individuals throughout Greater London.
