Cycle responders on duty at top cycling event
The London District Cycle Response Unit (CRU)
have been on duty with first aiders and ambulances from St John
Ambulance London (Prince of Wales’s) District at a top cycling
event.
Preparing for London 2012

The
CRU
joined first aiders from London
District and Surrey at the London to Surrey Cycle
Classic at the weekend.
The event, part of the London Prepares
series, saw many of the world’s leading cyclists race on
the 140km route which will be used for the London 2012
Olympic Games.
Delighted to support this important test event
Ashley Sweetland, who leads
operational cycling for St John Ambulance, said: ‘The Cycle
Response Unit were delighted to support this important test event
ahead of the Olympic Games.
‘Our capability as cycle responders enables us
to ensure that those who need first aid can get it quickly.’
The
CRU
provides emergency first aid
across the capital, using its specially-equipped mountain bicycles
to carry advanced first aid equipment, including an Automated
External Defibrillator and medical gases.
