Cycle Response Unit demonstrate the difference at bike
show
Visitors to the first ever London
Bike Show were given the chance to learn lifesaving first aid
skills and find out about St John Ambulance London
District's award winning Cycle Response Unit.
On show at the ExCel
London District's Cycle Response Unit (CRU) was joined
by many of the world's top cycling brands and its partners from the
City of London Police Cycle Squad at ExCel London exhibition centre
from the 13th to 16th of January.
Demonstrating how to be the difference
First aid trainers and
CRU members gave short sessions over the four
days and introduced the public to basic
first aid techniques. Emphasis was placed on how training
can be the difference between a life
lost and a life saved.
One of the CRU's specially equipped
mountain bicycles and equipment carried by the team was
also on display.
Ashley Sweetland, who leads operational
cycling for St John Ambulance, said, 'The London Bike Show went
really well. There was lots of interest in CRU, both from potential
new members and people who wanted to know a bit more about what we
do. There was lots of interest in our first aid talks and visitors
were keen to find out about how they can become the
difference.'
