CRU
prepare for first London Bike Show
St John Ambulance's Cycle Response Unit
will demonstrate how it strives to be the difference
across the capital at the first ever London Bike Show.
Introducing people to first aid
First aid trainers from St John Ambulance London (Prince of
Wales's) District will be on site giving short sessions over the
four days to introduce people to basic first aid
and to show them how training can help to make the
difference between a life lost and a life saved.
Specially-equiped bicycle on display
As well as giving taster
demonstrations, London District's award-winning Cycle
Response Unit (
CRU
) will
be exhibiting at stand LB610, where one of their
specially equipped mountain bicycles will be on
display.
CRU
provides emergency first aid across the capital, using its
specially equipped mountain bicycles to carry advanced first aid
equipment, including an Automated External Defibrillator and
medical gases.
Acclaimed service
The important role played by the Cycle
Response Unit was officially applauded earlier this year when the
unit was named Voluntary Ambulance Service Team of the
Year at the 2010 Ambulance Service Institute Awards at the
House of Lords.
We hope to use the opportunity to show the public how first aid training can make the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

'It will give us the chance to share
information on the lifesaving work of St John Ambulance in the
capital and demonstrate our commitment to cycling to the huge
number of visitors expected to attend from around the UK. We hope
to use the opportunity to show the public how first aid training
can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.’
The London Bike Show will feature stunt shows,
demonstrations and the chance to try and buy the latest
developments in cycle technology and design.
