Livery Masters asked to adopt a Cadet Unit
A collective of the capital's Livery
Companies came together on Tuesday 7th September for a formal
reception at the Old Bailey with dozens of young volunteers from St
John Ambulance London.

An insight into the daily work of Cadets
St John Ambulance in London has some 52 Cadet
Units as part of its organisation and is seeking to forge
stronger relations with historic Livery establishments by
requesting the ‘adoption’ of a specific youth
Unit.
Last night, Livery Masters heard from Sir Tom
Blackburn, Chairman of St John Ambulance London (Prince of Wales's)
District, and from the current Cadet of the Year, Cameron Terry.
They were given an insight into the daily work which sees over 1200
young people learning life skills, developmental skills, leadership
and community service engagement as part of their St John
commitment.
St John Ambulance nationally is one of the
UK's leading youth organisations and more than
half of its members are under the age of 25.
Within London, these youth members make the
difference to countless lives throughout the capital, assisting at
events such as the Lord Mayor’s Show, Wimbledon, London Marathon –
to name but a few.
We are enormously proud of our work with young people and the value they bring to the lives of people within the capital.
Anne Cable
Commissioner, London (Prince of Wales's) District
Developing firm relationships
Ann Cable, Commissioner of St John Ambulance London (Prince of
Wales's) District, said of last night’s event: 'This was a very
special opportunity for us to tell the story of our organisation to
a group of people with whom we would like to develop much stronger
affiliations.
'We are enormously proud of our work with young people in terms
of the value we bring to their lives, and the value they duly bring
to the lives of people within the capital.
'If we can develop some firm relationships through an 'adoption'
scheme, this will help enormously in terms of enhancing the offer
we give our Cadets, and in turn to the community we serve.'
