Cycle Response Unit on show at bike exhibition
Keen cyclists visiting the London
Bike Show in January will be able to learn lifesaving
first aid skills from St John Ambulance and learn more about how
our Cycle Response Unit (
CRU
) makes a difference across the
capital.
Introducing people to basic first aid and our specialist
equipment
The show, which takes place at ExCel from 12 to 15
January, will feature St John Ambulance alongside many of
the world’s top cycling brands.
First aid trainers from St John Ambulance
London (Prince of Wales’s) District will be on site giving
short sessions over the four days to introduce people to
basic first aid and to show them how training can help
them to be the difference between a life lost and a
life saved.
As well as giving taster demonstrations, the
award-winning St John Ambulance London Cycle Response Unit
(
CRU
) will be
exhibiting at stand LB761, where their
specially-equipped mountain bicycles will be on
display.
CRU
provides emergency first aid across the capital, using its
specially equipped mountain bicycles to carry advanced
first aid equipment, including Automated External
Defibrillators and medical gases.
CRU
has operated at more than 100 community and high profile events in
2011 across London, from the Virgin London
Marathon and Lord Mayors Show to the Royal
Wedding, Hyde Park Concerts and on New Year’s Eve.
Looking forward to supporting this event again
Ashley Sweetland, who leads
operational cycling for St John Ambulance, said: ‘We are really
looking forward to supporting the London Bike Show again this
year.
‘It will give us the chance to share
information on the lifesaving work of St John Ambulance in the
capital and demonstrate our commitment to cycling to the huge
number of visitors expected to attend from around the UK.
‘We hope to use the opportunity to show the
public how first aid training can be the difference
between a life lost and a life saved.’
The London Bike Show will feature
stunt shows, demonstrations and the chance to try
and buy the latest developments in cycle technology and
design.
