London District on hand to assist at NUS protests
The eyes of the world witnessed the
invaluable difference St John Ambulance London District makes,
during November's National Union of Students
(NUS) protests in Whitehall.
A key role in keeping the London Community safe

A total of 17 members were on duty during the heated
protests, as well as two ambulances and two members of the
organisation's award-winning cycle response units. Members were
in action over a 10 hour period. In
particular, it involved the steadfast commitment of Links members –
the student union contingent of St John Ambulance.
Throughout the incident, during which St John Ambulance worked
closely alongside the London Ambulance Service, 16 people were
treated on scene and one was taken to hospital.
'I am enormously proud of the Members of the organisation. This
scenario once again proved what a key role we play in keeping the
London community safe. We really do make the difference to the
lives of so many,' said Ann Cable, commissioner of St John
Ambulance London District.
St John Ambulance London members have a busy November in
store as they will be on duty in the capital for the Lord Mayor's
Show and Remembrance Sunday events.
