London members nominated to become Olympic
torchbearers
Two London District Volunteers have been put
forward for the chance to be official torchbearers for the 2012
Olympic Games.
Nominated in recognition of their commitment to
volunteering
Tom Webster, Borough Officer
for Camden and Islington, and Steve Mortimer,
Leader of Hammersmith Division, have reached the second
round of the nomination process to be a torchbearer during
next summer’s Olympic Torch Relay.
They were both nominated by St John
Ambulance in recognition of their commitment, dedication and
passion for volunteering.
They are among 28,000 people to reach this far
and their nominations will now be reviewed by one of 12 regional
selection panels which will be looking for 2,012 individuals with
the most inspirational stories of personal achievement and
contribution to their local community.
If selected, they will become one of 8,000
torchbearers needed for the Olympic Torch Relay.
