Summer fun at District
camp
Cadets from throughout London have spent
a week in Suffolk having fun, meeting new friends and learning
essential lifesaving skills.
The annual Cadet Camp, held near
Ipswich, gave about 75 young people aged 10 to
17 the opportunity to sleep under canvas, learn camping
skills, have fun and learn vital first aid skills which could
make them the difference between a life lost and a life
saved.
Throughout the week the Cadets took part in
several training sessions including drug awareness, child care,
radio communication and first aid.
They had the opportunity to work
towards up to two badges for their Grand Prior Awards, the
highest award that can be attained by a St John Ambulance
Cadet.
Senior Cadets were also given the opportunity
to complete a Cadet Training Course which will allow them to lead
their own cadet sessions in future.
The Cadets came from 17 different Units based
all over London. St John Ambulance London (Prince of Wales’s)
District has been running a summer camp since 1958, with Cadets
travelling to Suffolk for the past three years.
