Hillingdon Mayor receives official thank you from London
District
St John Ambulance London (Prince of
Wales's) District has marked its gratitude to the Mayor of
Hillingdon in a special presentation held at the Mayor’s
Parlour.
Paying tribute to their support
Councillor Shirley Harper-O'Neil received a
commemorative thank you plaque from South Hillingdon Division, on
behalf of various Mayors who have held office over the last 20
years.
We decided it would not be right to single any one individual out, but to present the plaque to the Mayor's Office.
Keith Saunders
Officer in Charge, South Hillingdon Division.
St John Ambulance volunteers in the
Hillingdon area have actively served the community
at all manner of events over the previous decades and were keen to
pay tribute to the support they receive from the
Mayor and their Mayoral team. Keith Saunders, Officer in Charge at
South Hillingdon St John Ambulance, led the presentation. He
said:
'Since 1990 consecutive Mayors of The
Borough of Hillingdon have been supportive of South Hillingdon
Division in many ways. We decided therefore that it would not be
right to single any one individual out, but to present the plaque
to the Mayor's Office, in honour of their help. All Mayors have
ensured that we have been invited to many official events, helping
us to raise our profile.'
Mr Saunders said they were grateful for
specific acts made by past mayors. For example, Councillor
Josephine Barratt presenting commendations on behalf of Seamus
Kelly the former London District Commissioner, to Ralph Coggs,
Pankaj Nakarja and Alan Wright for restoring life to a young
boy at Harrow School.
'We also recall with kindness that
Councillor Catherine Dann helped preside over the dedication of a
mobile unit at RAF Uxbridge, and invigilated the count of items
when South Hillingdon gained entry in the Guinness Book of Records
for the greatest number of items in a Tombola. For these acts and
so many others, we are glad to have presented a plaque of
appreciation, he added.
