About us

Northumbria, comprising of Northumberland and Tyne & Wear,
is one of the most charitably active counties within St John
Ambulance nationally.
We offer many different services in the
community. Our dedicated volunteers and paid staff provide
support ranging from first aid cover at public
events to first aid training
and community care facilities.
What we do
Our 300 adult volunteers provide first aid
cover at over 800 public events each year,
including football matches at St. James' Park and the Stadium of
Light.
We support many other events in the area:
- Newcastle Falcons Rugby
- Great North Run
- Great North Bike Ride
- Sunderland International Airshow
- Town moor "Hoppings"
- North East children's cancer run
...as well as local church fetes and village shows.
Our trained emergency ambulance crews use
our fleet of modern ambulances, equipped to
national standards, to support the North East Ambulance Service at
peak times.
We have a vast range of community projects
consisting of 3 successful day care centres,
hospital libraries, community transport and a listening
service.
We have youth groups across Northumbria, providing young
people between the ages of 5 and 18
development opportunities including camping,
adventurous activities, social development and first aid training.
Our youth programme has over 100 different badge subjects
available, and puts youth participation at the
heart of what we do.
In short, we have lots opportunities for you whatever your
age!
