St John Ambulance supports Bingham care home evacuation
St John Ambulance crews have helped evacuate
residents from a Bingham care home after electricity power
was lost and the home was left without lighting or heating.
Rapid response enables swift exit
10 residents were evacuated from the care home
and moved to alternative accommodation. St John Ambulance deployed
an ambulance and two support vehicles immediately
after receiving a call from Nottinghamshire County Council at
8.15pm on 12 December.
The electricity supply was restored the following morning and
all the evacuated residents were moved back in
safely, Nottinghamshire County Council said.
Robert Fisher from Nottinghamshire County
Council said: ‘We would like to thank St John Ambulance members
involved in the evacuation for their tremendous
support. The fact that they were able to deploy three
vehicles immediately to assist, with the first arriving in just 20
minutes, is testament to their readiness to provide
aid when and where it is needed, when any crisis
comes.’
Providing essential first aid support throughout the
UK
‘St John Ambulance is a vital part of the nation’s
emergency response system,’ said Joe
Shaw, Operational Support for St John Ambulance in
Nottinghamshire. ‘Whether it’s to support the County Council, the
ambulance service or respond to an individual medical emergency,
our volunteers and staff are on hand. In times of
crisis, emergency first aid support from St John Ambulance can be
the difference between lives lost and lives saved.’
