Cadets
Cadets are full members of St John
Ambulance. They receive training in first aid and other subjects
such as radio communications, care, crafts, food hygiene, DIY,
fitness and leadership.
Gain awards!
Cadets can work towards the St John Grand
Prior Award and join the Duke of
Edinburgh Award scheme.
Cadets can go on first aid duties and practise their first aid
and care skills under supervision of suitably-qualified
adults. From the age of 16, they can start attending meetings
at an adult unit, can do the HSE first aid at work course and begin
the Amalfi Challenge.
I was lucky enough to represent my county at the National Cadet of the Year Competition, which allowed me to develop my personal skills – and have lots of fun in the meantime!

Leading Cadet, Didcot
The Cadets have a regular programme of
competitions, sports days and outings. Each summer, Cadets get
the chance to go on a 10-day camping trip with other Cadets from
around Oxfordshire.
