Somerset duo visit House of Lords

Two St John Ambulance members from Somerset were invited to an awards ceremony held at the House of Lords on Monday 11 April. Where they received certificates in recognition of St John Ambulance Somerset’s exceptional service, supporting the statutory Ambulance service during the snow, earlier this year  

Ben Purchase from Yeovil Division and James Parsons from Wellington were selected to represent Somerset at this the prestigious event.

During the severe winter weather which affected Somerset last year Purchase supported the ambulance service by crewing a 4x4 ambulance for a period of three days.

'I feel proud to have been chosen to receive this award, having been part of the team of St John Ambulance members who helped make the difference to Somerset during this difficult time. My contribution was not without the help and support of others, from my employer to my friends and family and I would like to thank them once again for this,' he said.
