Community first aid courses

would you know what to do

St John Ambulance in Wellington is pleased to offer a new range of community first aid courses to the public.

Our vision

St John Ambulance has developed these new courses to try to encourage more people to learn life saving first aid skills, in line with our vision, which is:

Everyone who needs it should receive first aid from those around them. No one should suffer for the lack of trained first aiders.

Courses

An emergency can happen at any time, anywhere and you may be the only one who can help. A short first aid course with us will give you the simple skills required to save lives and maintain a life until an ambulance arrives.

An excellent day with clear and easy to digest information delivered professionally by a friendly and knowledgeable trainer

Our courses range from three hours to 16 hours and can be run over several weeks depending on your requirements. All these courses can either be done at our headquarters in Victoria Street, Wellington or we can come to venues.

These courses include:

  • Emergency life support:
    - Children and infants (three hours)
    - Adults (three hours)
    - All ages (four hours)
  • Basic first aid (three hours)
  • Family first aid (six hours)
  • Activity first aid (16 hours)

Our trainers are experienced volunteers of the adult division who have used these skills themselves many times to help people whilst providing first aid cover at events.

If you are interested in becoming an excellent first aider and using your skills to help people please consider joining our division as an adult volunteer.
