Member on Duty

St John Ambulance members are volunteers. There are many advantages to volunteering with us including gaining new lifesaving skills, making new friends and personal enjoyment and fulfilment. Not to mention the cups of tea/coffee and biscuits every week!

At Wellington adult division our main activity is providing frist aid and ambulance aid at public events, we also do a lot of training and social activities. Whilst we always provide a professional service we aim to have lots of fun in all we do.

St John is a really rewarding organisation to be in because it gives you a chance to meet lots of people, to get out into the community and to learn not just about first aid but other subjects too! The members are all really friendly and we have lots of fun on meeting nights!

Training

Most weeks our members undertake training, often in first aid, as well as using their first aid skills at public duties. This means that our members become very confident at first aid, giving them the skills needed to save lives and the confidence to act in an emergency.

Our members recieve continuous training and their skills are always up to date with the latest protocols.

In Wellington we have a good group who get on very well and have fun together. We're hoping to continue welcoming new members so that we can increase our activities in the local community, in our division and around Somerset.

We have members with different qualifications, from basic first aid to emergency ambulance attendants. Some of our members are also trained to drive ambulances.

Every volunteer is free to work towards as many or as few qualificaions as they wish. All members are fully supported to help them achieve the level that they wish.

Please feel free to visit any adult meeting to see what we do and if it may be for you.
