Cycle Response Unit

Staffordshire has been using bikes to
assist in the coverage of events around the county since 1992. The
Staffordshire CRU was formally set up in 2000 when members of
the team were asked to go to the NHQ to assist on the CRU steering
group. From then on the team has grown to 12 people of various ages
and of both sexes.
We cover 20-30 events throughout the year
in all weathers. Many of these events could not be adequately
covered without the presence of CRU.
Our CRU Crew
St John Ambulance provides a crew that are
trained to a high standard in all aspects of ambulance aid. Our
crews are dedicated, caring and friendly. The team train together
regularly to ensure their cycling skills are kept up-to a high
standard. Our experienced CRU crew members are fully trained
in:
- the highest standards of service in patient
care.
- the highest standard of training in driving
and road craft.
- using fully equipped cycles.
- dealing with most incidents and
emergencies.
All riders are trained with International
Police Mountain Bike Association standards. These standards are
widely accepted as being the best for emergency response
cyclist.
