Media Challenge 2010
A stolen car chase resulted in a
collision near Stone, teams of budding newshounds were on hand to
report on the staged drama.
The "incident" may not be a real emergency but it provides
a gritty backdrop for teams of aspiring
journalists. Students will be able to demonstrate their
newsgathering skills as part of this years Staffordshire
Partnership Media Challenge, which is being held
at Staffordshire Fire Service HQ - Pirehill, Stone, on 2nd July,
and at Stafford MOD on 8th July.
These events are being supported by Staffordshire Newsletter,
St John Ambulance, Staffordshire Fire & Rescue
Service, MOD Police and Staffordshire Police.
The teams of primary school and
secondary school students will watch the
incident unfold, capturing dramatic footage on camera, as a stolen
car is chased by Police, before colliding with another
car. The students will also witness firefighters freeing a
trapped person from one of the cars and St John
Ambulance members treating and transporting them to
hospital.
The students are then challenged to prepare a one minute
radio broadcast, a tv news bulletin and a newspaper report to
very tight deadline, before being judged and a winner being chosen
for each category.
