The Young first aider course is extremely flexible and provides, teachers, volunteers and youth leaders the chance to teach first aid to children between the ages of 7-16.

The scheme has been specifically designed to be taught to schools and youth groups accross England.

The teaching guides we can provide supplies all the information required to direct pupils through the course which covers the following topics:

  • Primary Survey
  • Recovery Position
  • Choking
  • Asthma
  • Wounds, Bleeding & Shock
  • Fractures
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Heart Attacks
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

By teaching the Young first aider you are providing critical lifesaving skills to children and young adults. These skills, combined with learning to work in a team, decision making, as well as personal and social responsibility, all ultimately increase confidence and general citizenship.

The attributes mentioned all fall in line with the PSHE curriculum. Follow the PSHE link to see what exactly the curriculum entails.

St John Ambulance Staffordshire fully appreciate that every child is different, and in reflection of this we offer support and guidance where possible.
