Giving chest compressions

Volunteer with us

We are currently especially interested in recruiting Responders in Elstead and Milford.

Email us at cfr@surrey.sja.org.uk or call 07903 215777 for more information.

To be a responder you must be:

  • in a recruitment area
  • be 18 or over; there is no upper age limit
  • have access to a car and be a safe, experienced driver
  • be fit and active; enough to carry the equipment and perform effective CPR
  • be prepared to undertake an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check
  • be prepared to undertake five initial days of training and pass an assessment
  • commit to at least 20 hours per month of availability as a Responder; in some areas we are looking for availability at specific times of the week
  • attend scheme meetings and ongoing training, and an annual reassessment.

You need to be calm in a crisis and good with people CFRs drive under normal road traffic laws and only attend calls that the ambulance service think are safe and appropriate.

You do NOT need any previous emergency aid experience; we will provide full training.
