Normandy & District Community Responders need
you
Last year our responders attended 85
emergency calls, which included six in cardiac arrests (no
breathing or heart beat), and gave over 3500 hours on call. This is
an amazing effort as there is only a few of us.
Community Responders attend 999 calls on
behalf of the ambulance service whilst the ambulance is getting to
the scene. We are often there sooner as we live in the area and
therefore can start emergency first aid before the ambulance
arrives.
However, we don't have enough responders to cover
24/7 seven days a week 365 days a year and currently a
responder is only available 40% of the time. We also don’t have
enough funds to buy the medical kits for any new responders we do
get, each kit costing £2500. This is where we need you and the
local businesses support especially in the areas we cover which
include Normandy, Fairlands, Wood Street, Ash Green and parts of
Ash.
If you would like to know more about becoming a responder and
you are over 18 years old, have a full clean driving licence and
have access to a car please visit our homepage or contact us on 07044
080142 email.
