Local school nominated for The Guy Evans Award
Three members of staff at Windsor High
School in Halesown have been nominated for the prestigious Guy
Evans Award at the inaugural St John Ambulance First Aid
awards.
Yvonne Talbot, Sue Detheridge and Patrick
Quigley will find out whether they've been successful at a
glittering awards event in London on Wednesday 30 November.
The Guy Evans Award, in association with
The Mail on Sunday, recognises a particularly
inspirational first aid achievement and will be voted for by the
public. This award is presented in memory of Guy Evans, who died
aged 17 - when basic first aid may have given him a chance to
live.
First aid training saves life
The trio have been nominated for the award following their
life saving efforts when Jasmine Paige suffered a cardiac
arrest while at school in January. Their combined CPR
efforts were able to keep Jasmine alive until medical professionals
arrived on the scene. Thankfully, Jasmine has made an
excellent recovery and was able to return to school full
time in September.
Speaking about the award nomination, Yvonne Talbot said: 'We are
absolutely thrilled that we have been put forward for this award.
First aid is a big priority for us at Windsor High School and Sixth
Form, and it is a vital skill for everyone to have.'
