Providing first aid at public events

St John Ambulance volunteers on duty at one of our local events

When large crowds gather for public events there needs to be first aid cover to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those attending. Our volunteers are trained in advanced first aid and lifesaving skills and attend thousands of events each year. In the event of an accident or illness occurring, our volunteers' skills are vital in preventing further harm and saving lives. They provide essential support until the emergency services arrive.

What event cover can St John Ambulance offer?

We can provide ambulance, first aid and medical services, tailored to the requirements of each individual event. We can provide a whole range of resources including:

  • Qualified first aiders
  • Ambulances and crew
  • Registered nurses and paramedics
  • Mobile command and control facilities
  • Mobile treatment centres/field hospitals.

Events we cover

We provide first aid cover across Wiltshire at all sorts of events, from Stonehenge Summer Solstice to music festivals and equestrian events.

It was a weight off our minds to be working with St John. The professionalism shown by the team is always fantastic

How do I book St John Ambulance for my event?

Contact us on 0844 880 2635 to get in touch with our public duties co-ordinator, Linda Robbins.  You can also email her at linda.robbins@wiltshire.sja.org.uk. She will need to know the following information:

  • Date and time
  • Venue/location
  • Type of event
  • Numbers attending/participating
  • Any special requirements.

Once we have received your information we will carry out a risk assessment and quote you for the level of cover we recommend.

The more notice you can give us, the more likely it is that we will be able to provide cover for your event. Large events often need planning up to twelve months in advance.
