What to do if someone is choking

  1. 1.Cough it out
    Encourage the person to cough
  2. 2. Slap it out
    Give up to five sharp back blows between their shoulder blades
  3. 3. Squeeze it out
    If over one year old: give up to five abdominal thrusts
    If under one year old: give up to five chest thrusts
    If that doesn’t work, call for an ambulance.

    Put them in the recovery position
  5. 5. If they’re not breathing
    Begin CPR

  1. 1. Call 999
  2. 2. Pump
    30 chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 per minute, or to the tune of Staying Alive
  3. 3. Breathe
    Give two rescue breaths
  4. 4. Continue to pump and give rescue breaths until help arrives

What to do if someone is having a heart attack

  1. 1. Call for an ambulance
  2. 2. Sit them down
    Comfortably, with knees bent
  3. 3. Give them an aspirin
    300mg dose of aspirin to chew. Do not give aspirin if the person is under 16 or allergic. Administer angina medication if prescribed.
