The Big First Aid Lesson - firework safety for children

Thousands of students can learn first aid for free through the Big First Aid Lesson, streamed into schools across the country on 3 November 2017.

This year's theme is Bonfire Night and learning how to deal with fireworks-related injuries.

Big First Aid Lesson Live

The Big First Aid Lesson 2017 will be an engaging show hosted by school children and television star Reece Buttery. Well-known for his  roles in the BBC Christmas adaptation of David Walliams' Gangsta Granny, CBBC's The Dumping Ground and The Secret Life of Boys, Reece is also a St John Ambulance Cadet.

The Big First Aid Lesson is aimed at primary and early secondary school students and will include practical elements, animations and interactive activities that will give thousands of young people life saving skills.

Bonfire night theme

With the popularity of bonfires, fireworks and sparklers, it’s important to know how to deal with any bonfire and fireworks-related injuries.

Students will observe common real-life first aid situations and demonstrations of relevant first aid techniques, as well as important fireworks safety tips.

By making first aid accessible, fun and easy to learn, students can gain the confidence to do the right thing when it counts.

Tell us your first aid story…and inspire a new generation of first aiders!

If you or one of your students has ever given emergency first aid, please tell us about it. Real stories help children see how vital first aid is – motivating them to get trained, and to take action if they are ever faced with an emergency. We especially want to hear from you if one of your students watched the Big First Aid Lesson Live last year, and has since used the first aid they learned from that.

If you've got an amazing first aid story to tell, we'd love to hear it. Send the details to
