Charity/Golden Bond Place

If you miss out on the London Marathon ballot, or just want to increase your chances of securing a place, why not apply for one of our Charity/Golden Bond places.

All we ask in return for a place is £100 registration fee, and a pledge to raise £1,800 minimum sponsorship.

How we support you

We’ll be there to help you meet your targets and to make the most out of your marathon experience. Our support package includes:

  • a dedicated marathon coordinator

  • a St John Ambulance running vest
  • a monthly e-newsletter and 'weekly tips' emails

  • a post race reception at Carlton house terrace on race day with refreshments, a massage and goody bags just a few minutes walk from the finish line

Own place runner

If you are lucky enough to be successful in the Virgin Money London Marathon public ballot, we would love to have you join team SJA.

You’ll be able to enjoy the same comprehensive, personal support package that we offer to our Charity/Golden Bond place runners (see above). All we ask in return is that you pledge to raise £250 in sponsorship.

To join Team St John Ambulance as an own place runner, you must have secured a place in the ballot yourself.

Please fill in an Own Place Runner application form and return this to the Events team at events@sja.org.uk or call 020 7324 4168.

How your support will help us save lives

Will running

Every year, too many people die in situations where first aid could have given them the chance to live. Yet less than 10% of the population is trained in first aid.

St John Ambulance believes that no one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. That’s why we’re committed to teaching life saving skills to as many people as possible.

As a charity, we rely on the support of people like you to help us continue our vital work, teaching first aid in schools and communities, and providing people with access to free first aid information and guidance.
