Moving and Handling People

This four-hour course deals specifically with the handling people in the workplace, which is most relevant to healthcare workers and providers.

The course focuses on how to minimize handling and lifting, and includes guidance on handling aids and risk assessment.

Who should attend?

The course is designed for all carers who need to lift or handle someone. We ask that attendees already complete our Moving and Handling Principles course, or an equivalent.

You will learn to move and handle people safely, so that risks are reduced.

Assessment and certification

Candidates are assessed by the trainer through observation, and if successful they will receive a St John Ambulance certificate valid for three years.
