Moving and handling for first aiders

This one-day course is recommended for any first aider who needs to move or handle casualties. It is designed to ensure both first aiders and casualties stay safe in an emergency.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for any first aider who needs to lift or handle casualties in an emergency environment. We ask that attendees already complete our Moving and Handling Principles course, or an equivalent.

What you will learn?

You will learn safer lifting techniques, how to identify potential handling risks in an emergency situation, and how to move and handle casualties so that risks are reduced.

Risk assessment
Applying moving and handling principles and basic skills
Using carry chairs, ambulance trollies, wheelchairs and many other handling

Assessment and certification

Candidates are assessed by the trainer through observation, and if successful they will receive a St John Ambulance certificate valid for three years.
