One-day Youth Mental Health First
Aid Training Course
Developed by MHFA England, this one-day course qualifies
delegates as youth mental health first aid
champions. Attendees will be able to identify common mental
health illnesses and understand how they can affect young people.
The course gives delegates the capacity to recognise symptoms of
mental ill health in a young person and lead them to the support
they need
Who should attend?
The course is for those who want to learn more
about mental health issues and the support on offer to young
people. It teaches techniques on how to work more effectively with
young people who live with a mental illness.
**Please be aware that this course
covers subjects that some people may find distressing, including
suicide and self-harm. If a delegate feels overwhelmed they can
leave the course at any time.
However, if you feel in advance that this subject may be too
distressing for the delegate please do not book them on without
first asking them whether they would feel comfortable attending. If
the delegate is unsure whether MHFA is right for them, please
encourage them to contact
us to discuss their concerns. For support
with your mental health, please contact Samaritans on 116 123, or
NHS 111.**
