Bertie and friends - our foundation stage resource
The Bertie and friends pack has been developed to
support the delivery of basic healthy living and safety messages to
three to five-year-olds.
The pack features 10 animal characters who live in the village
of St John, and the story of each character directly addresses
different early learning goals relating to basic healthy living and
safety messages.
The pack is a fun and interactive way of promoting healthy
living and safety awareness to young children. 
Bertie Badger shows how to make friends, Candy Cat teaches about
road safety, Casey Cow advises about healthy eating, Hetty Hen and
Harry Horse offer suggestions on helping and being good to friends,
Dusty Dog offers advice on keeping clean, Olly Owl on getting help,
Pedro Penguin warns about the dangers when playing around water,
while Sundeep Spider offers basic first aid information and Sheila
Sheep gives guidance on looking after each other.

- an illustrated A3 storybook with 10 chapters

The resources link to the Early Years Foundation Stage
curriculum and early learning goals and will also help children
achieve the aims of the government’s Every Child Matters.
