Find your volunteer role

Whatever you enjoy doing, and however much time you can commit, there’s a volunteer role for you.

Our roles are open to applicants over the age of 18 – If you are under 18, you can get involved with one of our youth programmes. This will give you the opportunity to learn first aid alongside other important life skills. Please note: we are unable to support work experience at this point in time.

St John Ambulance (England) covers all of England. If you don’t live in England, find out about volunteering opportunities near you.

There lots of different volunteer roles available. For some, all you need is bags of enthusiasm, such as the community fundraiser role. Others, such as the medical volunteering roles, require you to hold a qualification before you can apply.

When are you free?

All our volunteer roles operate in the evenings and weekends, with selective weekday opportunities.

Check the table below to find an area you’re interested in and a time commitment that suits you. Click the role category to read more about the roles available in that area.
