First Aider

As a First Aider at Events, you’ll help St John Ambulance provide first aid at large and small events within the community. You’ll be part of a team of volunteers delivering help where it’s needed, dealing with everything from a sprained ankle to a cardiac arrest.

The experience you gain could lead to more advanced roles, including patient transport, cycle response, advanced first aid and emergency response. You’ll make a real difference to your community and have a huge impact on the nation’s health. 

As a First Aider at Events, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. AS a first Aid volunteer you will be trained to a high standard to provide first aid treatment to patients at events covered by St John ambulance in the community, at concerts, sports events etc, at local, regional and national level. no previous training is required - it will be provided - we just look for a desire to help people and the readiness to deal with situations that can be distressing. 

This role is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations Offenders Act

Volunteering opportunities in the following areas:

Lincoln, Sleaford, Spalding, Stamford, Newark, Bilsthorpe, Calverton, Hucknall, Pinxton, Mansfield, Worksop & Nottingham

You must be able to attend all the following events to be considered successful in this role

We will be running several information events locally and these are:

 - Selection Event: Held on Saturday 31st August 2019 from 09.00 to 11.30 at Newark St John Ambulance, 2 Telford Drive, Newark

If at the recruitment session you & St John Ambulance agree the role you volunteered for is the right one for you. You will be asked to remain the Welcome Event later the same day.

 - Welcome/Induction Event: Held on Saturday 31st August 2019 from 12.15 to 17.00 at Newark St John Ambulance, 2 Telford Drive, Newark (Same day as Selection Event)

Training Details

For Individuals volunteering to be Event First Aiders, training will be provided for you on a four-day course delivered at the same building between 09.00am to 17.00pm

Four-day training course will be held on 14th, 15th, 21st & 22nd September 2019

If due to work or family commitments, you are unable to attend the above course dates, there may be an opportunity to attend alternative training courses on different dates & venues. 

Please advise your interviewer on the recruitment session if there are any issues attending the above course.
