Regional Student Volunteering Officer

No one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it. St John Ambulance (SJA) teaches people first aid so they can be the difference between life and death, and you can help us do this.

Student volunteering is a great opportunity for university students to volunteer with St John Ambulance (SJA) alongside their studies. Students join a First Aid Society within their students' union where they can learn about first aid, fundraise for SJA and spread the word about the importance of first aid within their communities.

Students who join these societies may choose to join SJA as a volunteer and can do this by joining the Student Volunteering Unit linked to their First Aid Society. These units give students the same training and volunteering opportunities as adult volunteers in SJA, but are run by students. A Student Volunteering (SV) unit usually operates in the same way as a regular Event Services Unit, in that trained volunteers provide first aid cover for various events in the local area, however only students (and in some cases employees) of the universities or colleges they are affiliated with can be involved. In some circumstances, students from more than one local educational establishment.

We are looking for a special projects RSVO in order to initiate and oversee special projects within the south west in order to standardise and improve best practice across the region.

The Regional Student Volunteering Officer will be responsible for providing specialist advice and support to student volunteering units, District Managers and Area Managers. This will include working with key internal and external stakeholders to develop the student volunteering within the region. They are managed by the Regional Student Volunteering Lead and work within the wider regional and national team.
