Emma and Matthew

Badgers are the youngest members of the
St John Ambulance family. Aged between five and 10, Badgers have a
lot of fun while learning first aid skills that can benefit them
for the rest of their lives.
Matthew, 7, and Emma, 9, are a brother-sister Badger duo in
Bukinghamshire who both joined when they were five years old.
Emma
Emma joined St John Ambulance as a Badger in 2004, wanting to be
just like her parents who had been involved with the organisation
for more than a decade.
I really wanted to be a Badger. I wanted to be like my Mom who is also a member.

'I really like to learn about first aid with other children,'
Emma said. 'We play games and have great fun, and do a lot of
really good activities like cooking and art.'
Since joining the Buckinhamshire Badgers, Emma has taken part in
badger rambles (walks), arts and crafts days and has even gone to
camp.
'I really wanted to be a badger,' said Emma. 'I wanted to be
like my Mom who is also a member.'
Matthew
Following in the footsteps of his older sister, Matthew joined
the Badgers as soon as he was old enough to do so.
Matthew enjoys learning new first aid skills, he's able to turn
people into the recovery position and really likes to bandage
people up.
'I really like playing at badgers and doing lots of fun stuff,'
said Matthew. 'I have told all my friends about it. I like doing
first aid and learning things. I like playing games as well.'
Their father has been a member of St John Ambulance since 1985,
their mother since 1990.
