Volunteers' effort recognised at Palace reception

Representatives from St John Ambulance (SJA) attended St James’s Palace on 29 May in celebration of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering Award 2012, which was received by SJA last year.

A proud achievement

The award was a formal recognition of volunteers’ contribution to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Ann Cable, District Manager in London, and Robert Ashton, District Manager in the South West, were key to SJA’s first aid delivery during 2012 and were both part of SJA’s 2012 Coordination Group. They were selected to represent SJA at the Palace reception.

Earlier this year, a commemorative crystal and copy of the award certificate signed by The Queen were presented to each region of St John Ambulance for display.

Delivering essential first aid

‘Volunteers worked tirelessly throughout 2012, providing first aid to those who needed it at Jubilee and Olympic and Paralympic celebrations. It’s marvellous that their contribution has been recognised by Her Majesty.’ said Head of Volunteering, Chris Reed.
