Meet the runners: Angharad Marment

Clapham runner will be taking part in the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon for St John Ambulance after volunteers helped her mother

Angharad, 2016 marathon runnerAngharad, 24, will be fundraising for the nation’s leading first aid charity in the lead-up to marathon day when more than 1,000 St John Ambulance first aiders will line the route, ready to treat injured runners and spectators.

She says: ‘St John Ambulance volunteers looked after my mum when she was seriously injured in a horse riding accident in 2013. They kept her calm and gave her first aid before she was air lifted to hospital.

‘The work of St John Ambulance is so important to millions of people. I consider it a real privilege to raise money for such a worthy cause.’

Angharad lives near Clapham Common and works as a PA at the Price Waterhouse Coopers offices near London Bridge where she plans to get colleagues supporting her fundraising efforts via a series of cake sales.

This will be her first full marathon and her training schedule involves running with her mum Vanessa. The pair are pictured at last month’s Wimbledon 10k event.
