Statement in response to ambulance services struggling to reach seriously ill patients due to rising demand

Clive James, National Training Officer, St John Ambulance said: "It is essential that more people learn simple first aid techniques so that no one is helpless in an emergency. CPR is very easy to learn, yet thousands of cardiac arrest victims die every year because they are not given help by those around them in those vital first few minutes. Everyone should take the responsibility to learn first aid themselves. Armed with this knowledge we can all be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.”
