Bunzl Healthcare donates brand new vehicle to St John
19 October 2016
We have a brand new mobile first aid unit -
the first of its kind in the charity's fleet - thanks to a generous
donation from Bunzl Healthcare!
The custom-built £45k vehicle is already being used by volunteer
first aiders at events across South West England and it will also
be available to assist as an emergency response vehicle during
disaster situation. In addition, it will also support our night
services in city centres where we provide medical care to help
reduce pressure on the NHS.
The first aid unit was unveiled at Bunzl Healthcare in Bristol,
recently, and the company’s Sales and Marketing Director, Neil
McDonald commented: ‘We were delighted to host the launch of the
new vehicle and are very proud to support St John Ambulance.
‘The launch day included first aid training sessions by SJA for
our depot staff, which fitted well within our own internal
initiative ‘Making Healthcare Happen’.
‘Whether at work, at home, or in the street, first aid skills
can literally be the difference between life or death; we were
pleased to offer colleagues the opportunity to increase their
‘The unit will be a great asset to the South West region, as it
will increase the first aid support available at the areas major
public and sporting events.’
The mobile first aid unit is a specialist triage clinic which is
driven to events and emergencies so that ‘walking wounded’ can be
treated on site. The vehicle also doubles up as transport for the
charity’s volunteers and equipment.
And donating this essential vehicle is the latest way in
which Bunzl has supported us, having previously backed our
training programmes and awareness campaigns.
National Partnerships Manager at St John Ambulance, Anthony
Davison, said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Bunzl to make
our communities safer – this vehicle is a brand new addition to our
fleet which will make our delivery of first aid at major events
‘The generosity of Bunzl is hugely appreciated and we look
forward to our continuing partnership with them.’
