Majorie Guthrie Williamson Majorie Williamson, 1900s

My grandmother, Majorie Guthrie Williamson was very proud of her St John Ambulance nurse’s uniform during the 1900s and she was also very proud to have served with them during WWI.

I am equally proud to have been appointed a County President almost 100 years later. My aunt who is in her eighties, recalls that my grandmother was working with injured soldiers in a hospital. She received many letters from her grateful patients which she kept for the rest of her life. My grandmother never lost her St John nursing skills which she continued to use during WWII and she looked after 16 evacuees.
