Shirley Cox from Wiltshire
‘St John Ambulance is a wonderful organisation and I am proud
and honoured to be part of it. I Joined St John Ambulance in
Wiltshire as a Cadet in 1954.
During the 1960s, I was part of the National Hospital
Service Reserve which meant that I would report to
Stratton St Margaret Hospital in the morning and would help the
nurses with duties such as washing patients, making up beds,
cleaning equipment and talking to patients.
I have attended the London marathon as a first aider on several
occasions. One runner sent a letter which read, “from
30,000 marathon runners and me, thank you.”’
