‘I was on duty at a state
visit in Windsor and was put in charge of four volunteers to cover
the area from the Queen Victoria statue down to Windsor
Riverside station. At the briefing we were told we were there for
the general public.
One of the horse-guards that was escorting the procession was
having trouble controlling his horse where I was stationed. It
suddenly raced up and went backwards, crashing into one of
the royal guards which caused more problems.
The horse threw its rider and then backed up. It was soon
brought under control and I was summoned by a policeman to
attend to the solider. After assessing the soldier, an
Ambulance was called to take over and remove the patient.
