Sue Sieger from Dorset

Sue Sieger, 2000sSouth West ‘Being a part of a voluntary organisation provides an opportunity to learn and give to others. I joined St John Ambulance because I wanted to put my first aid skills into practice.

My most gratifying duty was at Bournemouth Air Show. There was a cardiac arrest during the Red Arrows display. Working with a paramedic, there was an urgency to get the patient to hospital. Using my local knowledge, I was able to get out of Bournemouth via bus lanes and back roads and we managed to get to the local A&E department within four minutes.

The paramedic’s praises in saving this woman’s life made me feel so proud to be a part of such a worthy cause.’
