10 – 17 year olds can join one of our
Cadet units, which operate throughout the country. At Cadets it's
all about fun, adventure and community.
Guided by youth

working towards their Grand Prior Award.

in a fun and safe environment, but with challenge and excitement
appropriate to their age.
Cadets can choose from over seventy
different subjects to help complete their award. These
range from Fire prevention and Photography, to Sports and first
Younger Cadets learn first aid skills through
our training course for young people
while older Cadets can undertake a community first aid or first aid
at work course. Cadets can put their first aid and other
communication skills into practice by providing first aid to the
public at events or teaching first aid to other young people and
St John Ambulance is a value for money way of offering young
people a wide variety of fun, challenging and exciting activities
that help them to learn life saving first aid skills.
All units in England charge a fixed annual subscription of £72
which can be paid annually or monthly. The payment covers costs
such as leader training, keeping young people safe and the price of
equipment, certificates and badges.
There is usually an extra charge for special events such as
camp, and subscriptions do not cover the cost of uniform.
No young person will be excluded from St John Ambulance if they
cannot afford to pay for either uniform or subscriptions. For more
information, please contact the leader of your local unit.
