Young first aider of the year

2011 YFA winners

Do you know a child who has used vital first aid to save a life or help an injured person?

St John Ambulance is seeking young people who have acted quickly, calmly and effectively at a real emergency for its annual Young first aider of the year awards.

The awards are open to all those under 18-years of age and the closing date for nominations will be Friday 17 February 2012. The winners will be invited to a special ceremony in May 2012.

This year’s 20 young medal winners included:

  • A 8-year old girl who gave vital first aid to her younger brother who was choking
  • A 18-year old boy who performed CPR on his mum after she passed out at the wheel of the car

St John Ambulance believes it is essential for young people to learn first aid so that they can help anyone who has been injured. The Young First Aider of the Year awards are a wonderful way to celebrate their bravery and quick-thinking.
