St John Ambulance is the nation’s leading first aid charity. Every year, 400,000 people learn how to save a life through our training programmes, including hundreds of thousands of young people. First aid is such a simple skill, but it has an incredible impact. We want everyone to learn it, so that they can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.
To achieve this, we provide a wide range of products and services to the community such as our workplace and community training, first aid support at events and our vital work with the emergency services with our ambulance operations. We generate around £100m per annum which we reinvest in delivering and campaigning for better access to first aid for everyone. By doing this, we can give people access to important skills that they wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to learn.
We are also passionate about campaigning to raise awareness of first aid so that everyone has access to life saving knowledge through our award-winning ad campaigns such as "The Chokeables" which is credited with saving at least 56 babies lives and recently won the Charity Film of the Year Award 2017.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a PR Officer to join the PR team at St John Ambulance to play a key role in protecting and enhancing the reputation of the organisation.
You will work with colleagues to raise awareness of the importance of first aid and create new ways to generate stories and deliver ambitious media coverage.
You will support the team through proactive and reactive media liaison, case studies, campaigns, crisis communications, celebrity engagement and social media content creation.
We're looking for someone with at least 2 years’ experience in PR. You must be a self-starter who is confident in providing advice and support to a range of key stakeholders, developing and implementing PR plans, as well as demonstrable experience in writing and a strong track record of securing national coverage.
