Head of Human Resources
The Head of HR could be based at several offices across England so you may see multiple adverts but we are only recruiting one person.
About the Role
As part of the People & Organisation directorate, our HR team support the wider of organisation of over 35,000 employees, volunteers and young people with a goal of helping our managers better manage our people.
As Head of HR, you will ensure that HR processes, services and initiatives support St John’s strategic aims. You will lead and manage the HR teams to support and develop employees and volunteers across the charity while improving their experience of working or volunteering for St John.
You will also play a key role in supporting and developing St John’s leaders and managers to ensure that the working environment is vibrant, contemporary and inclusive.

You will have experience of leading HR teams in a large and complex multi-site organisation. You will be comfortable in supporting a broad range of stakeholder groups and dealing effectively with competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You will have contemporary HR skills and will be highly effective at influencing and building relationships at all levels. You will bring energy, drive and compassion to the role and will, ideally, have experience of working with volunteers in a charity.
St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, providing first aid, keeping people safe at events and working alongside the NHS in response to 999 calls. Much of our front-line delivery is provided by our dedicated and highly-trained volunteers.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people, many of them under 18, also learn how to save a life through our training, education and youth programmes.
