How can I take part in a fundraising event for St John Ambulance?

Taking part in an event is fun and will keep you fit. Not matter what your level of fitness is or what sort of event you are looking for (running, cycling, treks, skydives) we will have something suitable for you and we will support you every step of the way. Can I organise my own fundraising event?

Yes, of course. If you're looking at holding your own event be that a quiz night, a cake sale or a charity auction, we've got loads of tips and tricks so you can organise your own event

I have a specific question about an event. Where can I get the answer?

On our events pages we'll give you a specific telephone number and contact for the event so you can find out all the answers to your questions. Alternatively get in touch at or on 0207 324 4168 and we’ll put you in touch with the right person.

How do I create an online sponsorship page?

You can find St John Ambulance on JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

We ask all participants to commit to raising a minimum sponsorship amount depending on the event. This is due to the cost to the charity for purchasing places and expenditure per participant for items such as a running vest and promotional materials etc. We are here to support you with the journey both in terms of your training and fundraising.

We ask that runners get the majority of their sponsorship to us before the event but should you not reach your target by the deadline, we ask that you continue to fundraise until the target amount is reached. Please note: Gift Aid does not count towards your fundraising pledge.

How do I pay in funds I have raised?

Paying in your donation is simple. You can pay in your fundraising online via JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving or by post. If you have set up an online fundraising page your donations will come directly to us and you won’t have to do anything else. We would like to encourage you to send in your money online as cash in the post isn't as secure.

If you have any offline donations (cash), please pay this into your account and pay the amount into your own fundraising page. If you have been given cheques and they are made payable to us, please send them to the address below, along with all sponsor forms.

Once you have reached your target and finished fundraising let us know and we will send you a certificate for the full amount raised as a thank you for all of your hard work.

Can I claim Gift Aid on the funds I have raised?

Gift Aid tax is worth 25p for every £1 that is donated and we can only claim it if we have your completed sponsorship forms. To claim Gift Aid on your fundraising, we must have the first name or initials, last name, full home address and postcode of each individual donor/sponsor. So please encourage them to tick the Gift Aid box on your sponsorship form when they sponsor you. Without these details we legally can't claim. If you have an online fundraising page with JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving they offer Gift Aid. Please note: Gift Aid does not count towards your fundraising pledge.

How does my donation or the money I have raised make a difference?

The funds you raise are essential in helping us to provide first aid training to people in schools and communities across the country. With your help we’re building a nation of life savers.

In 2015, more than 140,000 young people received first aid training at school, delivered by our expert trainers.

Our volunteers gave 1,000,000+ hours of their time to provide first aid cover at events throughout the country.

Through our campaigns we aim to advocate, educate and celebrate the importance of first aid in our society. Our annual awareness week, Save a Life September, saw demonstrations held in over 300 locations, including shopping centres, schools, markets and other community spaces. Can I use your logo on my website, product or publicity materials?

Unfortunately, you cannot use the St John Ambulance logo in any way, but we are happy to provide you with some selected branded materials such as posters and flyers to help support your fundraising.

Commercial organisations are not permitted to use our name or logo without our prior written consent - contact if you want to get a company involved who may want to use our name.
