Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Courses
St John Ambulance is collaborating with Mental
Health First Aid England to deliver youth mental health first
aid courses for anyone who works, lives or supports young people
aged 8-18 – such as school staff and youth workers.
What you will learn on our youth mental health first aid
courses:
- Get the confidence and
knowledge to spot symptoms of mental ill health in a
young person.
- Skills to offer support and
guidance to a young person towards the help they
require.
- How to help with early
intervention, by stopping a mental health issue from
deteriorating.
- Techniques to decrease the
stigma surrounding mental health through education and
awareness.
Our courses will not train you to be a
therapist, but they will prepare you to offer reassuring support
and guidance when a young person needs it most.
The courses also give you the skills to manage
your own mental wellbeing, empowering you to set an example of a
healthy mental environment for young people.
